NSO for cosmetics and hygiene products in Bolivia

What the Mandatory Health Notification is, which products need it and which rules govern it.

Reviewed on October 25, 2026

What the NSO is

Decision 833 of the Andean Community establishes that cosmetic products require the Mandatory Health Notification (NSO) in order to be marketed. AGEMED reminds that absorbent, personal hygiene, household hygiene and cosmetic products must have the NSO code to be marketed (CR-57-2022).

Who must be registered

Industrial laboratories, importers and distributors of cosmetics must be registered with AGEMED.

Rules that changed

Decision 944 replaced article 9 of Decision 833, which governs the NSO code application (CR-29-2025).

Andean Community Resolution 2540 amended several articles of the Andean Technical Regulation on Labeling of Cosmetic Products (Resolution 2310), which is in force since December 17, 2025 (CR-1-2025).

Micro and small enterprises

There is a specific registration with AGEMED for micro and small enterprises that produce cosmetics, household hygiene and personal hygiene absorbents (RA-48-2024 and RA-50-2024).
